Scott Hoberg
Development Director
Scott Hoberg was began his life in Thousand Oaks California before moving to Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of eight. Growing up as an only child in a two parent Catholic household in the Midwest provided him an early grounding in social justice and community outreach.
In high school, Scott spent three hours a day commuting for the opportunity to attend the local Jesuit school, St. Xavier. It was in high school that the political bug first bit Scott. As a freshman, he volunteered on a congressional campaign of a former St. Xavier graduate. Later on in high school, Scott would continue to volunteer on local races as well as in the Cincinnati office of Dean for America.
Scott decided to attend another Jesuit institution upon graduation from high school, Fordham University in New York. Scott spent his freshman year alternating between attending classes and interning on the re-election campaign of Senator Charles Schumer. Following Senator Schumer’s reelection, Scott began working in the senator’s federal office in Manhattan.
Scott first became involved in the College Democrats as a sophomore, working with a few of his friends to rebuild the Fordham chapter. In 2006, he secured funding for the club to travel to Ohio to work on the midterm elections and built the chapter from three members to over three dozen. Being a student and a resident assistant at Fordham gave him the opportunity to not only reach out to fellow political wonks, but also student who never thought of becoming involved in the political system.
In the spring of 2007, Scott was elected President of the College Democrats of New York. As President of CDNY, Scott oversaw the organization grow by over 66% and further develop its relationship with the state party and local officials. While president, Scott also began working as a political fundraiser for clients such as Rep. Jerry Nadler and later worked in New York’s City Hall.
Scott graduated from Fordham in May of 2008 and is currently a first
year law student at the University of Cincinnati, where he is hoping to
concentrate in labor law. He looks forward to applying the skills
learned from his days as a fundraiser and event planner to CDA and
hopes to give back to CDA the same amount of joy and opportunity it has
given him.
