THE OFFICIAL COLLEGE OUTREACH ARM OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY
Dana's Bio
Dana Cronyn
Communications Director

From her very first moments as a Michigan Wolverine, Dana Cronyn has been an active College Democrat - campaigning for Senator Debbie Stabenow and Governor Jennifer Granholm's reelection campaigns in 2006. Since that time she has gone on to serve as the Communications Director for both the College Democrats at the University of Michigan and the Michigan Federation of College Democrats.

As a self-described blog addict, Dana has used her time with the UM Dems to initiate and propel the chapter's new media efforts. Leading a team of twenty dedicated members, she founded the chapter's blog with an emphasis on local content and live-blogging of events. In addition, Dana worked to develop a bi-weekly video podcast, DemTV, which is written, directed, edited, and anchored by UM students. These projects have served as creative outlets, uniting Michigan State University, Northern Michigan University, Kalamazoo College and the University of Michigan in new and exciting ways.

Among all of the excitement within College Democrats, Dana was thrilled to help found UM's Students for Hillary chapter, serving as the Events and Visibility Coordinator for the duration of the primary season. The Hillary campaign gave her the opportunity to develop a strong democratic movement on campus, including an on-campus rally and two group trips to Iowa where she canvassed for Hillary and helped moderate at the Iowa caucuses.

Once on the Obama bandwagon, Dana spent the 2008 election developing a dynamic and systematic grassroots publicity campaign that helped the chapter register nearly 5,000 voters and knock more than twice as many doors. Her publicity and planning efforts also united the campus for events featuring Governor Jennifer Granholm, Senator Carl Levin, UN Ambassador Susan Rice, and national celebrities like Kal Penn, Desmond Howard, and Adam Brody.

When not working on Democratic politics, Dana spends her time working with other progressive institutions. She currently serves as the publisher of Campus Progress's The Michigan Independent, as a campus campaign coordinator for Teach for America, and was a media intern at Media Matters for America in Washington, DC during the summer of 2009.

Dana is currently a rising senior at the University of Michigan where she studies communications and political science.
